Vasudev Balwant Phadke Life Introduction Vasudev Balwant Phadke was born on November 4, 1945 in Shirdos village of Panvel taluka (now Raigad district) in Maharashtra.

Started revolutionary activity in India, the first martyr of #Mantikari activity.  In addition to wrestling, fencing, and horseback riding, he was trained to run the shara.  Due to his lack of interest in studies, he dropped out of high school.  After retail jobs, he moved to Pune where he got a job as a clerk in the Accounts Department.  During this time he came in contact with Sahuji Sanghoji Salve.

Salve was a leading figure in the backward race who fought for the liberation of British rule and set up a training center for Pahelwa.  He explained to Vasudev Phadke the importance of integrating backward castes into the mainstream of the Swatastha movement.  It was during this period that Phadke started participating in the lectures of Mahadev Govind Rande.  In his lectures, Rande drew attention to the policies of the British rule and its negative impact on the Indian economy.

They set up an organization called Aikay Vardhini Sabha to educate the youth, who could not pay their last respects to their ailing mother due to delays in getting leave during Clark's job.  He was very upset by this incident. Vasudev Balwant Phadke failed in his student life of 1857!  They were overwhelmed by the news.

After completing his education, Phadke got a job in the ‘Great Indian Peninsula Railway and Mintary Finance Department, Poona’. He built an arena in the jungles, Jyotiba Phule was also his partner.  Lokmanya Tilak also learned to run a spa rastro, where people are also taught to subdue darts.  Mahadev Govind Rande gave a speech in 1870.  He stressed how the British were plundering India economically.  This had a big impact on Phadke.  Even while working, he wandered from village to village during the reign, campaigning against plunder among the people.  When he did not get any help from the kings, Phadke followed Shivaji's path and started trying to mobilize the tribal army.

He revolted against the British in February 1879.  He consulted with the youth from all over Maharashtra, and tried to organize them but he saw no ray of hope from the behavior of the youth, days after the horse ‘Govind Rao Dawar and some other youth stood with him.  No powerful organization has yet emerged.  Then he looked at the forest dwellers and thought that Lord Rama too has conquered Lanka by organizing monkeys and forest dwellers.

Maharana Pratap also organized these forest dwellers and chewed Akbar a lot.  Inspiring these same forest dwellers, Shivaji also defeated Aurangzeb.  Vasudev Phadke's army had a strong influence in seven districts of Maharashtra.  Frightened by the British authorities, on May 13, 1879, at 12 o'clock, Vasudev Balwant Phadke arrived with his comrades.

British officers were killed and the building was set on fire.  After that, the British government announced a reward of fifty thousand rupees for capturing him alive or dead.  But the very next day, in the city of Mumbai, Vasudev's advertisements were placed that a reward of 75 thousand rupees would be given to the English officer who beheaded Richard.  British officials were furious.  In 1857, Daulatram Naik, a colleague of Phadke, looted goods worth fifty thousand rupees on the occasion of the marriage of the son of the Diwan of Gaekwad in Baroda.

This caused the British government to fall behind Phadke and he was caught in a state of illness resting in a temple.  Arrested July 20, 1879.  Treason was tried and Phadke was sentenced to life in prison and later sent to Aden.  As soon as he reached Aden, Phadke escaped but was captured because he was not familiar with the routes.

He was subjected to various forms of torture in prison.  He contracted tuberculosis there and died on February 17, 1883 in Aden prison.

In 180, Phadke co-founded the Poona Native Institution (FNI), later known as the Maharashtra Education Society (MES), with social reformer and revolutionary Laxman Narhar Indapurkar and Vaman Prabhakar Bhave.

At present Maharashtra Education Society has more than 20 educational institutions.  When the then Gaikwadi ruler of Vadodara state was ousted by the British government on the 19th, Phadke started giving speeches against the government.

Due to the indifferent attitude of the British government in the severe situation of drought, he traveled to the Deccan region to prepare the people for the independence of the motherland.  Without the support of educated people, he gathered more than 500 people of Ramoshi caste.  Phadke wanted to build his own army but due to lack of sufficient funds he decided to plunder the government treasury.  He made his first impression on Dhabhari village in Shirur taluka of Pune district.

After that he attacked other villages like Wahe Palakshya and in this attack he collected about 200 rupees for the famine victims.  Meanwhile, Phadke's main supporter Ramoshi leader Daulatrao Nayak was advancing towards the Konkan region on the west coast.  On May 10-11, while they were returning after collecting Rs 1.5 lakh from Pulsp and Chikhli, Major Daniel shot and killed them.  This incident hit their rebellious activities and they were forced to leave for Shri Shaila Mallikarjun Tirth in the south.  Phadke regrouped 500 people in the south and resumed military operations.  Phadke's plan was to organize nationwide attacks against the British but they were not very successful.

The British government announced a reward for him. In return, Phadke also announced a reward for the governor of Mumbai.  After a direct confrontation with the British near Ghanor village, he moved to Hyderabad.  Phadke was arrested by William Daniel, Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad Nizam, on July 30, 19 in a military operation.

After his arrest, he was lodged in Pune Jail.  He was produced in court on October 6.  He was sentenced to death for treason, sedition and murder.  Ganesh Vasudev Joshi, known as Kaka, was Phadke's lawyer.  He succeeded in commuting Phadke's sentence to life imprisonment.  Following the court's verdict, Phadke and his accomplices were kept at the District Sessions Court Jail Bhavan (now CID Bhavan) near Sangam Bridge.  He escaped from prison on October 31, 190.  But they were recaptured.  He was martyred during a hunger strike on February 18 in Aden prison.

 • A postage stamp of 50 paise was issued by the Indian Postal Department in honor of Vasudev Phadke in 19.  On December 3, 2009, a Marathi film called Vasudev Balwant Phadke was released by Gajendra Ahir.
